BERNARD TERREAUX – NAKED RAKU AND SMOKE-FIRING

I have been in Collioure in Southern France for a couple of weeks. At a gallery called Galerie Profils Artimon, the current three-person show included a wide range of work by potter Bernard Terreaux. Entirely relevant to what we have been talking about during the raku week. Paint-on bright coloured glazes even. Not keen on his figurative stuff but the naked raku using terra sigillata slips and the smoked pieces much more suceessful. Some great colour especially on the red-slipped ones. He has used glaze successfully with both processes.

I didn’t take any (second rate) photos in the gallery but here is a link to his website. Click on the fire photo to enter and then go to céramique. The film is interesting too.
