Another Modernist Teapot – Tapio Wirkkala for Rosenthal

This Tapio Wirkkala teapot was designed in 1962 for Rosenthal Studio Linie. It resembles the innovative TC100 stacking teapot designed for them by Nick Roericht in 1959. This particular example is labelled underneath Hotel and Restaurant Service although unlike the TC100 I don’t think they were originally designed with that function in mind. It will stack vertically without the lid. The gallery and lid stem are elliptical and lock with a 90 degree turn. The service includes a matching taller coffee pot.
