BRISTOL’S NEW BANKSY. MOBILE LOVERS NOW ON SHOW AT THE CITY MUSEUM – video

BRISTOL’S NEW BANKSY GOES UP ON THE WALL AT THE CITY MUSEUM

MAYOR GEORGE FERGUSON INTERVIEWED

Lots of fuss in Bristol this week after a new (alleged) BANKSY painting appeared on a wall in Clement St, St Judes. A couple embrace in the dark of a doorway whilst looking over each other’s shoulders to text, their faces lit up by the phone screens.

Below – Mayor George Ferguson being interviewed as the painting was hung at
City Museum and Art Gallery in Queens Road this afternoon

Dennis Stinchcombe of the Riverside Youth Project in Broad Plain jemmied it off the wall as soon as it was found with the intention of selling it to raise funds for the club. They needs £150000 apparently. Cue row – the wall, and hence the painting belongs to the Council. Others object simply because stealing BANKSYs for the money is contemptible. Mayor George Ferguson has stepped in. He accepts that the Boys Club need funds and a deal has been struck whereby the painting is now (temporarily) on show at the Museum and Art Gallery in Queens Road and visitors are asked to make a donation – all of which go to the Club. Apparently merchandise is to follow with the same intention.

Meanwhile BANKSY’s website has nothing but a closeup of the painting and a night shot of it in place in the street. No comment.
